I have a dear friend who I love and respect. A few months ago, she told me her husband’s mom had Alzheimer's Disease. I didn’t know what that
was or what it meant, so I did what I do best and researched it. In my research
the thing that stood out to me most was that it was a disease that not only affects
the patient, but the family as well. It can destroy families and people who are
not the patient.
The first part of this story I grew to really respect Callum.
He went to see his grandma everyday, even when it broke his heart to do so. Alex
was just what Callum needed in his life. He was strong and supportive.
The second part of the story was a story of its own. I bawled
my eyes out in those few short pages. I will not give away spoilers. I will only
tell you this is a must read! It’s also a free read and short so it won’t take
much of your time.
As with all short stories I was disappointed that it was so
short, and I didn’t get a chance to fully get to know the main characters, but I would
definitely recommend it to others. ~Timmy

It was just an ordinary day for Alex Harper at Harper's Antiquities, until Callum Winters walked in with a watch.
"It was my Grandfather's. I was hoping you could tell me something about it."

Dearest Timmy,
ReplyDeleteI love you and your way of entering fully into things, researching, checking, making your own, informed opinion about things. And I love how you share your thoughts. Thank you for these words on Alzheimer's Disease, it kills us all, slowly. I love and respect you too, my dear friend. :-)
This story you reviewed, isn't it just fabulous? I read it already when it was fanfic (as you so correctly state in your information above, kudos!), and still today when I read it (again and again) I prefer the version with Edward and Jasper. Because, well, you know, Jasper. :-)
N.R. Walker is one of my favorite authors, one with a true voice and beautiful language. So glad you enjoyed this story! Your review is very good, both thoughtful and well rounded, and all that without spoilers. This is not easy to do, when it is about such a short story, so KUDOS for that, too!
Well done!
Um, now I must find the original version! Because, well, you know, Jasper! :P I love me some Jasper! Love you lot's and you and Mr. Anna are always in my thoughts and prayers.

Wonderful review Timmy. I loved this short little story too. To me its one of the few true love stories out there.
ReplyDeleteOh and you are not alone Timmy. The second part of the story really broke me as well.
It did Deeze! I was in tears! But it was one of the best short stories I have read. Thanks for stopping by!

An excellent & concise review, Timmy. Have read this story and agree with every thing you have written. Thank you for no spoilers. Keep up the writing & reviewing! Love from Alaska Ann Alaskan
ReplyDeleteI try to never give away spoilers, though some have read these books already, there are many who have not. I don't like to read spoilers. It's hard to keep the balance between what like or don't like, but not giving to much detail. Thanks for reading the review and leaving a comment. I love hearing from you guys.

I loved this wonderful story. I'm so glad you reviewed it, Timmy, so others can also find it, because it truly is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat's my hope Aniko. I really hope my reviews help people find books they haven't read before. I also love when people that have read the books read my reviews, so they will get an idea of the books I like. That way when you come up to one I reviewed that you haven't read, you would know if we have similar taste in books.

Ahahaha! XD I know that feeling. I've gone to blogs before and try to post and they don't. One time I tried for several minutes, multiple times, got frustrated, and gave up. Then went back later to try again- and saw post multiple times. I was so embarrassed! *hides face*
DeleteBlog are made to make us look bad, I'm sure of it. :D Glad to know I'm in good company.
