Timmy's Review of Ethan, Who Loved Carter by Ryan Loveless

As a 12 year old with speech problems and other issues, I am often known in social circles as “the freak.” People stare, they say hurtful things, and are rarely understanding. This book was a romance, but it was also about understanding. The people in Ethan’s life took the time to understand him, but Carter took the time to SEE him, to LISTEN to his music, to LEARN about him. This book is about so much more than two people falling in love. It shows the true strength that Ethan and Carter have and the acceptance of their friends and family, but most of all it teaches. As you wouldn’t judge a book by its cover, this story teaches us not to judge people by what we see and hear on the outside, but to look deeper, and find the time to really get to know a person before writing them off as “freak, retard, or trouble maker.” Always remember that there is a real person with feelings inside that body and brain that does not work the way you think it should. Ethan is a very loving guy, and he has so much to give the people who take the time to know him. He has the ability to see music in everything. He shows people the joy in life. Carter needs that joy in his life. He needs Ethan to show him that he is beautiful just the way he is. When Ethan hits a rough patch, it’s Carter reminding Ethan that he is perfect just the way he is. The love they share is special and unique, and so sweet. This book gives me both hope and courage. This is one of my all time favorite love stories. It is ranked in my top five favorite books and I highly recommend this book. ~Timmy

Ethan, Who Loved Carter by Ryan Loveless
Available in Print, eBook, and Audiobook

By twenty-four, Carter Stevenson has stuttered and ticced his way to debilitating shyness. Although his friends accuse him of letting his Tourette's dictate his life, Carter moves from Los Angeles to a quiet California town. He'll keep his head down and avoid people. He doesn't anticipate his new neighbor, Ethan Hart, crashing into his solitude and forcing him to get out and live.

From the beginning, Ethan makes his love for Carter clear. But he fears Carter won't see past Ethan's damaged brain, even though it makes Ethan more attuned to his emotions than most people. For Carter, there's a bigger issue: he's been burned by so-called "perfect" matches, and he won't risk his heart again.

One way or another, Ethan's determined to show Carter they belong together. Then Ethan receives tragic news. Suddenly he must turn to Carter for strength and support. Will Carter come through when Ethan needs him most?
