A Little Rant for Our Friends

I'm over at Love Bytes today with a special article about being allies for each other.

My good buddy, Timmy, talks about something very important: intolerance by people within the LGBTQIA community. Sadly, bigotry does happen and it isn’t only against people of the QUILTBAG persuasion. It happens against our allies. Heterosexism is just as much a sexual orientation and gender identity as any other letter of the alphabet soup and all are essential elements of our human identity.

Str8washing v. Gaywashing in Young Adult and Teen Literature

It’s no secret that Hollywood has a long-standing history of “straightening” depictions of historical figures in film. With the adoption of the Motion Picture Production Code in the U.S. in 1930, it was forbidden to portray “sex perversion” in the movies (film industries in other countries were subjected to similar restrictions). Coincidentally (or not), very few films were made about people known to be gay or bisexual.

The Voice - A Blog Written by the Community for the Community brought to you by Have a Gay Day!

Have a Gay Day is the brainchild of Michael Knote. An innovator and visionary, he is changing the world one gay day at a time. Have a Gay Day's goal is to "create a safe environment for the purpose of Equality, Education, and Support of the LGBT community and their Allies."

The Weight of Silence & Those Who Took Timmy's Challenge

Timmy and I are over at Love Bytes today "talking" about the inability to speak. Come check it out!

This is an extremely important post and it's important to acknowledge, appreciate, and respect those who took Timmy's Challenge.

The first person to take the Challenge was Anna Lund. Her experiences over the course of twenty-four hours do much to elucidate what we, who cannot speak, go through; and her experiences are heartrending. The second person to take the Challenge was M. LeAnne Phoenix. LeAnne was also bold and brave, yet still found a whole new world. She asks a very important question at the end of her posts.
